Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and ground nutmeg.
  3. Cream the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, buttermilk, and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture and mix until just combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and fold until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth it out evenly with a spatula.
