- Wash 4-5 fresh lemons, roll them to release juices, cut in half, and squeeze to yield approximately ¾ cup of lemon juice.
- Combine 7 ¼ cups of water and the halved lemons in a large pot and bring to a gentle boil for about 8 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 ¼ cups of sugar until fully dissolved.
- Strain the mixture into a pitcher, add the lemon juice, and stir. Add 3 cups of ice and refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours.
