Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Bring the thawed turkey to room temperature for 1 hour. Remove giblets and pat dry.
  2. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  3. Season cavity with salt and pepper, then add onion, lemon, and herbs.
  4. Mix butter, garlic, salt, pepper, and herbs to create herb butter.
  5. Loosen the skin and rub herb butter under, then spread on exterior.
  6. Roast turkey breast-side up for approximately 15 minutes per pound, checking internal temperature.
  7. Remove turkey from oven and cover lightly with foil. Let rest for 30 minutes.
