Dough Preparation
- Combine 3 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons of yeast, ½ cup of brown sugar, ½ teaspoon of salt, and 2 teaspoons of ground ginger. Add 1 cup of warm milk, ¼ cup of butter, 2 eggs, ½ cup of molasses, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir until just combined.
Kneading Dough
- Gradually add remaining flour, about ½ cup at a time, kneading for 4-5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rest for 20 minutes.
Filling Preparation
- Blend together ½ cup of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of ground ginger, ¼ cup of softened unsalted butter, and ¼ cup of molasses until well incorporated.
Rolls Formation
- Roll dough into a 12x16 inch rectangle, spread filling, roll tightly, and slice into 12 rolls. Place in a greased baking dish and let rise for about 1 hour.
Baking
- Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for about 40 minutes, until golden brown. Cool slightly in pan.
Frosting Preparation
- Beat together ¼ cup of softened butter and 8 oz of cream cheese until creamy. Gradually mix in the remaining frosting ingredients until smooth.
Frosting the Rolls
- Spread frosting generously over warm rolls and serve immediately.
