Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Bake your chocolate cake according to the package or homemade recipe instructions and allow it to cool completely.

  3. In a trifle dish, layer chocolate cake cubes evenly at the bottom.
  4. Spread a layer of whipped cream over the cake cubes, covering them entirely.
  5. Scatter a layer of cherries over the whipped cream and drizzle with Kirsch if using.
  6. Continue layering with cake, whipped cream, and cherries until ingredients are used up, finishing with whipped cream.
  7. Garnish with chocolate shavings and whole cherries, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
