For the Filling
  • 30 sticks Mozzarella Cheese Sticks Can substitute with mozzarella pearls or cheddar cubes.
For the Egg Wash
  • 1 large Egg Feel free to use a milk or dairy-free alternative if needed.
For the Flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (melted) Enhances richness and flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese (divided) Any hard cheese can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley Can replace with dried herbs, adjust amounts accordingly.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Rosemary Can replace with dried herbs, adjust amounts accordingly.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Basil Can replace with dried herbs, adjust amounts accordingly.
  • 3 cloves Grated Garlic In a pinch, replace with garlic powder (1/4 teaspoon per clove).

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the pizza dough and flatten it slightly. Cut into 30 even squares, about 3 inches each.
  3. Cut mozzarella cheese sticks into 30 bite-sized pieces and place one in the center of each dough square.
  4. Gather the corners of each dough square around the cheese piece and pinch to form tight balls.
  5. Arrange dough balls seam-side down into a tree shape on the baking sheet.
  6. Whisk egg and a splash of water in a bowl; brush over the dough balls.
  7. Bake for 16-18 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  8. While baking, melt butter and stir in grated Parmesan and herbs to create garlic herb butter.
  9. Brush baked bread with herb butter and sprinkle remaining Parmesan on top. Serve warm with marinara or pesto.
